ARIZONA FAMILY PLANNING COUNCIL

SEEKS AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

STATUS: Full-time, Management, Exempt

SALARY RANGE: Negotiable

RESPONSIBLE TO: Board of Directors

APPOINTMENT BY: Board of Directors

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Implements policies established by the Board of Directors. Within the parameters and budget established by the Board, the Executive Director has the necessary authority and is held responsible for the administration of the corporation, including compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. The Executive Director serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of Arizona’s Title X Program. Ensures compliance with program guidelines and regulations.
  • Ensures the necessary support, training, technical assistance and monitoring of delegate/subcontractor agencies.
  • Ensures planning and development of Arizona family planning services based on assessed needs.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with the private and public sectors, locally and nationally.
  • Provides the necessary support to ensure an informed and active Board of Directors.
  • Initiates and maintains a strategic planning process. Translates the strategic plan into realistic goals and objectives that are implemented.
  • Plays a leadership role in providing public information, community education and advocacy related to family planning. Participates actively with other stake holders to develop and impact public policy.
  • Develops and implements strategies to diversify and expand the Council’s funding base.
  • Recruits and supervises staff.

REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience:

  • A minimum of five years progressive management experience in a non-profit health or social service program. Experience must include fiscal, personnel and grants management as well as working directly with a Board of Directors.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Administration, Health, Social Work or related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Good understanding and of funding and contracting mechanisms and general requirements of publicly funded programs.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement a strategic planning process.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills. Ability to conduct meetings, public speaking and interact effectively with diverse groups of people and communities.
  • Ability to find opportunities and act with initiative.
